Khammam: Dr. Ramaiah Muthyala, President of the Indian Organization for Rare Diseases (IORD), addressed the Khammam Bar Association at an awareness program on “Rare Diseases – Role of Legal Professionals”, held at the District Bar Association Hall on Tuesday.
He emphasized the critical role that legal professionals play in raising awareness about rare diseases and supporting the rights of affected individuals. According to Dr. Muthyala, rare diseases, though individually uncommon, collectively impact millions and remain under-recognized in public policy and healthcare systems.
In his address, he urged the legal fraternity to collaborate with medical and patient advocacy groups to ensure fair policies, early diagnosis, and equitable healthcare access. A supportive environment that upholds both comfort and dignity for patients, he said, must be created.
The program was attended by Bar Association President Venkateswara Rao, Vice President Vijayasanta, Treasurer Narasimha Rao, and members Nutala Srinivasa Rao, Krishna Rao, and other lawyers.
Dr. Ramaiah Muthyala was honored at the event in recognition of his efforts.
